Trail Riding Details
Our experienced wranglers are here to cater to each rider’s comfortability level so they get the most enjoyment out of their ride. Stunning views, abundant wildlife, and the chance to bond with your horse are the highlights of this trip.
This beautiful ride runs through the largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48 states, offering a variety of mountain views and panoramic settings overlooking the Wild and Scenic Salmon River. This river is famously known as the River of No Return and it deserves such a name, boasting the second-deepest canyon on the continent.
Your experienced wrangler will guide you on your journey and share their knowledge of the region’s flora and fauna, deep history, and mountainside. For those looking to learn about horseback riding itself, your wrangler will be right there to help you with tips to ensure you a comfortable, safe, and fun ride. Be sure to stay on the look-out for bald eagles, osprey, wildflowers, and clear mountain springs—they won’t be hard to find here in the Frank Church Wilderness.
We offer a variety of two-hour rides for all riding levels. This may include forging across the river with the horses, heading up mountain switchbacks or simply practice sessions at our stables next to the lodge for beginners and kids.

“I’ve been blessed to go on a few trips, but nothing compares to what we’ve experienced here at The Salmon River Lodge. I agree with the writer that once said, “Life is not about the amount of breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.” I have had so many of those moments.”
